Moushole Historic Fishing Village

Mousehole, (pronounced Mowzel) is a pretty fishing village within walking distance of Kymaurah cottage. the small harbour at low tide has a sandy beach popular with families. Mousehole has retained it's charm and character with it's narrow (and we do mean narrow) winding streets hiding many delight's including art galleries, quality shops and restaurants. Perched above, is the world famous bird hospital, saving many thousands of birds over the years, and open to visitors.

St Michaels Mount

The jewel in the crown of west Cornwall and the national trust, St Michaels Mount the fairy tale castle dominates Mounts Bay, and can be seen with a short walk seaward from Kymaurah cottage. A visit is again, a must do. Take a boat trip to the island, or walk the causeway at low tide, the Mount is a small community in it's own right, with homes, a shop, restaurant and cafe. The castle still residence of the St Aubyn family, part monastery, part embattled castle and attractive gardens offers a fascinating enjoyable day out.

The Telegraph Museum at Porthcurnow

Porthcurnow Telegraph Museum and Sandy Cove

Porthcurno the nearest sandy beach of size to Kymaurah cottage, flanked by Pendvouder Cove and Church Cove, is South facing below the Minack theatre. If the weather is not beach, the minack theatre is open to day visitors, with an excellent visitor centre, a cafe restaurant with spectacular views. Porthcurno has a modern history in the 20th century, with international communications, Marconi and the Cable and Wireless Company shaping the world we now know, a unique underground museum traces and preserves this history.

A ten to fifteen minute car journey from Kymaurah cottage will bring you to a delightful queen Anne style country house. Guided tours are held daily in the season by the owner Mr Le Grice. The Le Grice family and local history are entwined in an entertaining and amusing way. beautiful gardens and attractions for all the family make treiffe a worthwhile visit.

Sandy Beach at Whitsand Bay

Whitsand Bay

Whitsandbay is one of east Cornwalls finest beaches three miles of unspoilt beach, guaranteed to find a place for your towel! A major attraction now is for divers, after a decommissioned warship was sunk to make an artificial reef for sealife. A webcam is charting the progress of the reef, it looks set to be a magnet for divers.
