Lamorna Cove

A trout stream runs through the beautiful wooded Lamorna valley to the cove, where a breakwater shields the small harbour and sandy beach at low tide. Until recent years a busy fishing community and industrial cove with the granite quarries, disused now, but famous in their day for high quality stone used for lighthouses, and the London embankment.

Lamorna, said to be one of Cornwall's most romantic places, thanks to the early 20th century artists, Samuel John, Lamorna Birch and others of the Newlyn school. Recently placed in the top ten of uk's most beautiful coves by the Sunday Times.
